Inaugurated by the Government, NINDYA Hopes Wouma Market Can Restore Socio-Economy in Papua

The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General (Dirjen) Cipta Karya held the inauguration as well as the handover of the management and utilization of the Wouma Market building to the Jayawijaya government (10/7).
The activity that was held through the virtual meeting was attended by Jayawijaya Regent John Richard Banua, Director of Strategic Infrastructure Director General of Cipta Karya Iwan Suprijanto, Head of the Papua Settlement Infrastructure Hall, Corneles Sagrim, Head of PPK Region II Anggoro Putro and General Manager of NINDYA Region V Eko Suhartono.
Wouma Market is one of the biggest traditional markets in Wamena with an area of 740 m2. Recorded after the riots that occurred on September 23, 2019, as many as 128 merchant stalls were burned to the ground so badly damaged. In its implementation, the Ministry of PUPR assigned NINDYA, supported by Consultant Virama Karya as well as TNI AD personnel, to rehabilitate 144 lots of traders which could be completed in only 2 (two) weeks from the beginning of October 24, 2019 and completed on November 10, 2019.
Director of Strategic Infrastructure Director General Cipta Karya Iwan Suprijanto in his remarks expressed, extraordinary appreciation to Nindya Karya and the team in charge for being productive partners in carrying out the work well.
In addition, Iwan also hopes that the restoration of socio-economic conditions in Papua can be evidence that Papua has been conducive in welcoming the upcoming Papuan PON event. So that there is no longer fear of the public to visit Papua.
In line with the government, General Manager of NINDYA Region V Eko Suhartono also hopes that what NINDYA is doing can benefit the people of Papua and wamena especially so that the economy in Papua can recover soon.
