Supporting Water Supply for Irrigation in Gowa Regency, Karlloe Dam Built by Nindya Karya Starts Impounding

Gowa (20/8) – NINDYA together with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) carried out impounding or initial inundation of the Karalloe Dam located in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi. The dam with a capacity of 40.53 million m3 is prepared to maintain the continuity of irrigation water supply to agricultural land.
In its implementation, NINDYA was trusted as the contractor for the construction of the Karalloe Dam by the Ministry of PUPR through the Pompengan-Jenebarang River Basin Center (BBWS), Directorate General of Water Resources.
The Karalloe Dam has an inundation area of 248.50 hectares, the water supply of this dam will be used to irrigate an irrigation area of 7,004 hectares, a raw water source of 440 liters/second, a 4.5 MW micro-hydro power plant, and a flood control for Gowa Regency of 49 m3/second. second. In addition to functioning as water conservation, the Karalloe Dam also has the potential as a tourism destination because around it there are forests so that the air is still cool and clean.
The location of the Karalloe Dam is 137 km to the southeast of Makassar City, precisely in Tompobulu District, Gowa Regency. With the construction of the Karalloe Dam along with an irrigation network, it is hoped that it will help farmers to increase their planting intensity.
Quoting from pu.go.id, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the management of water resources and irrigation will continue to support sustainable agricultural production. Besides, the presence of the dam also has the potential for raw water, energy, flood control, and tourism that will grow the local economy.
“The construction of the dam must be followed by the availability of the irrigation network. Thus, the dam that was built at a large cost can be immediately utilized because the water is guaranteed to flow to the farmers' fields," said Minister Basuki some time ago.
Meanwhile, the Director of Production & HSE, NINDYA Firmansyah, hopes that the presence of the Karalloe Dam can immediately be felt by the people in South Sulawesi Province, especially the people in Gowa Regency.
