East Nusa Tenggara - President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had the opportunity to directly inaugurate the Napun Gete Dam Project built by Nindya Karya, accompanied by the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, NTT Governor Viktor Laiskodat, Sikka Regent Fransiskus Roberto Diogo and President Director of Nindya Karya Haedar A. Karim. The inauguration ceremony was held at the location of the Napun Gete Dam, East Nusa Tenggara by strictly implementing the Covid-19 health protocol.

Nindya Karya is trusted by the Ministry of PUPR to work on the Napun Gete Dam construction project which was built since the end of 2016 with a capacity of up to 11.22 million cubic meters with an inundation area of 99.78 hectares. This dam will be a source of irrigation for around 300 hectares of surrounding rice fields. In addition, the Napun Gete Dam can be a source of raw water and has the potential to generate electricity.

In his speech, Jokowi said, “I can't count how often I visit East Nusa Tenggara Province. What I remember is that during my initial visits, I always received requests for the government to build a dam in this province. And that's true, because the key to NTT's prosperity is water. Once there is water, everything can be planted. I hope that the dams built in NTT can spur the productivity of the NTT agricultural and livestock sector ”.
