Supporting the Acceleration of Economic Growth in Downtown Manokwari, Nindya Karya Renovates Sanggeng Market

Nindya Karya once again demonstrates its commitment to supporting the acceleration of economic growth in Downtown Manokwari, West Papua, through the Renovation Project of Sanggeng Market Building. This project is part of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) initiated by the Ministry of Public Works.
Sanggeng Market has been the main economic hub and a proud landmark of the Manokwari community since it was first built in 1989. Over the past three decades, the market building has suffered two fires, which significantly reduced the functionality of its facilities. Therefore, this renewal project serves as a strategic step to revitalize Papua’s economic growth.
The new three-story building will accommodate 394 kiosks and 1,016 vendor stalls, equipped with more modern facilities and a clean, well-organized environment, ensuring comfort for both sellers and buyers. With its strategic location near the port and the Manokwari fish auction center, the market provides easier access for the community to meet their daily goods and services needs.
This renovation presents a new face for traditional markets, transforming it into a commercial hub for West Papua’s community that is safe, comfortable, clean, well-structured, more aesthetic, and free from slum conditions. It also reflects Nindya Karya’s support for the President’s Asta Cita vision: creating quality jobs, encouraging entrepreneurship, fostering creative industries, and continuing infrastructure development.
